Back by popular demand! 16th June 2025!
This tour is ideal for those interested in a first introduction to James Joyce and will celebrate the life of the iconic Irish writer by walking through the streets of Dublin, the city he immortalized in his ground-breaking novel, Ulysses. The route, during 2 hrs and 30 mins, will partly follow in the footsteps of the book’s main character, Leopold Bloom, in his famous wanderings in the year 1904 and there will be liberal quotations from Ulysses as we stroll along.
Dublin has changed enormously since then but we will still encounter many of Bloom’s intriguing stops or indeed places associated with Joyce himself or his associates along the way. Our destination will be same as that of Bloom where he eventually paused for lunch of a Gorgonzola cheese sandwich and a glass of Burgundy wine at the renowned Davy Byrnes, which is happily still trading. After the tour, you may independently partake of the same in the company of numerous other Joyceans who will be gathering at Davy Byrnes.
On this colourful occasion many people will be gaily dressed in the flamboyant costumes of the period so please feel free to do the same!
